Your Fitting ExperienceBefore your surgery
Prior to your surgery you should be fitted into a post surgical camisole. This garment is ideal for wearing home from the hospital as well as throughout the healing process since it contains a pocket to hold your surgical drains. A surgical camisole is suitable for a mastectomy, lumpectomy, biopsy, breast reconstruction, and radiation therapy. If you elect to have breast reconstruction, you will still benefit from a camisole for support and comfort. Surgical camisoles, bras, and prostheses are all covered by Medicare and most private insurance carriers. Color Me Pink will file your claims for you. We will need to call your specific insurance company in order to determine what is available to you.
In addition, if you choose to have breast reconstruction or a lumpectomy, you can feel reassured that there are solutions to help "fill in" the area of lost breast tissue. A partial form, also known as a balancer, can help fill in this area for a more natural, full appearance. | |

After your surgery
What you will need: - A prescription from your doctor (You may have him or her fax it to 919-419-2423). - Four to six weeks healing time after your surgery
If you need to be fitted for a breast prosthesis, call and schedule an appointment if possible. Allow about 45 minutes for your fitting. An appointment is not a requirement but it will allow us to focus our time on your specific, special needs. Feel free to bring someone with you. It is important that you heal from the swelling and tenderness for 4 to 6 weeks after your surgery before being fitted with a silicone breast form. We will take some measurements in order to find the correct prosthesis and/or bra size. The fitter will also explain proper care and instructions for use of your new breast products. Our goal is for you to feel confident and comfortable upon leaving our shop. |
